Department Definition The Narrative Lab team is dedicated to creating the core Expo visual narrative stories under three pillars of design, production and writing. Between now and October 2020, the team is responsible for developing and delivering a rich library of visually impacting assets that will essentially communicate to the general public what Expo is and attract visitors to world’s biggest stage, ensuring that the nation is ready to welcome the world in 2020, be part of the “I was there” moment of our generation and both contribute to, and benefit from, the Expo’s enduring legacy. Opportunity Responsibilities The role of the Graphic Designer is to develop high quality visual assets that will support the team’s outreach and engagement activities, as well as engaging collateral that will serve as tangible touch points and initiatives across the nation. The main responsibilities of the role include: Be a source of visual content within the team, working independently and taking responsibility for each phase of design, from initial concept to final deliverable; Design, create and deliver high quality and engaging visual communications, including (but not limited to) graphic design, illustration graphics, digital screens design, presentations, mood boards and storyboard direction; Design, create and deliver high quality visual content for social media use, including static infographics and short video edits or GIFs; Ensure that creative content reflects the specified messaging and is relevant to the specified audience; Collaborate with different departments across the organisation and liaise directly with stakeholders or external suppliers where required; Participate in brainstorming sessions and share ideas on how to deliver in the most effective and engaging way; Show flexibility and a strong ability to deliver high quality work under pressure and to firm deadlines. Skills 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, as well as: A Bachelor's degree in Design, preferable within a relevant field; Strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills (oral and written); Ability to work independently with only directional input from line managers; Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to a larger goal; Working knowledge in using Photoshop, 2D vector illustration skills, Illustrator and In design; Ability to create compelling design-led PowerPoint/Keynote presentations and imagery editing.
